South East Water has a program to construct sewers to serve unsewered properties. We work closely with EPA Victoria and local Councils in our service area to identify properties to be connected to our sewerage system. Councils involved include Mornington Peninsula, Casey, Cardinia Shire, Yarra Ranges, Knox and Frankston.

The total number of unsewered properties included in the program is 23,000 and the total cost in today's dollars of providing sewerage services to all these unsewered properties is estimated at $400 million.

All defined area plans have been endorsed by the respective Council Chief Executive Officers.

The program is regularly reviewed and adjustments can result from;

  • Changes in Government direction on annual spending on the program;
  • Altered priorities as a result of changes in the environmental or health conditions in an area;
  • Changes in project costs.
